Hour 19-24 and Wrap-Up

 Since last update:

The Plot Against America - 33 pgs
The Mystery of the Ivory Charm - 80 pgs (I read this from 4:00 to 5:00 a.m.!)

Final total, pages: 525
Final total, hours: 11 hr 7 min (7 hr 7 min reading, 4 hr audio)

I didn't finish a book for the first time ever, but I really had fun jumping around!
My results always seem to be about the same, so I think I have a good mix of reading/audio/social media/other breaks. Can't wait to do it again!

Hour 13-18

 Since last update:

The Lottery and Other Stories - 36 pgs
The Plot Against America - 12 pgs (audio - Ron Silver does a great job reading this)
Persepolis 2: The Story of a Return - 96 pgs (graphic)

Running total, pages: 412
Running total, hours: 6 hr 7 min reading, 3 hr audio

Hoping to last a bit longer before visiting snoozeville.

Hour 6-12

 Since last update:

The Plot Against America - 51 pgs (audio)

Shakespeare: The World as Stage - 43 pgs

The Sellout: 45 pgs

Running total, pages: 268

Running total, hours: 4 hr reading, 2 hr 40 min audio

I got a bit of a second wind. I think really getting into my books is helping me forget temporarily about the pandemic, the election - ugh. Hopefully, I can tear through some pages this evening! (It's probably not a good idea for me to be reading The Plot Against America at the moment - it's eerily prophetic.)

Mid-Event Survey

 I can't believe it's already half over!

1. What are you reading right now? I've started 3 books, but most recently have been reading The Sellout by Paul Beatty
2. How many books have you read so far? 1/2 of one, 1/3 of one, and 1/4 of another!
3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon? Finishing Shakespeare: The World as Stage by Bill Bryson
4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? No significant interruptions.
5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far? That I was so sleepy all morning.

Hour 1-6

The Plot Against America - 32 pgs (audio)

The Sellout - 52 pgs

Every Day in Tuscany - 7 pgs (had to stop reading this because I discovered it's the 3rd book in a "series" and I haven't read the 2nd yet!)

Shakespeare: The World as Stage - 38 pgs

Running total, pages: 129

Running total, hours: 2 hr 10 min reading, 1 hr audio

I'm struggling with the Readathon so far, because I'm tired (didn't sleep well last night) and just feel generally 'blah'. I'm going to take it easy on myself - take lots of breaks and not expect stellar results.

Opening Survey

 1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today? Utah

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? I can't pick just one. They're all ones I really want to read.

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to? Mango frozen fruit bars

4) Tell us a little something about yourself! I do lots of non-partisan volunteer work. Please VOTE, if you haven't already!

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to? I want to get more reading hours in!

 Here's the stack!

The Stand by Stephen King
The Mystery of the Ivory Charm by Carolyn Keene - always need Nancy in the stack!
Every Day in Tuscany by Frances Mayes
Shakespeare: The World as Stage by Bill Bryson
The Crossing by Michael Connelly
The Sellout by Paul Beatty
The Lottery and Other Stories by Shirley Jackson
Persepolis 2 by Marjane Satrapi (graphic)
The Plot Against America by Philip Roth

I may do something different this time and try to read from all 10! They are different enough, I think I could get away with it. We'll see. Can't wait to get started in just 37 hours! 😉📕📕
