Bout of Books 37

The Bout of Books readathon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly Rubidoux Apple. It’s a weeklong readathon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 8th and runs through Sunday, May 14th in YOUR time zone. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are reading sprints, Twitter chats, and exclusive Instagram challenges, but they’re all completely optional. For all Bout of Books 37 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog.  - From the Bout of Books team

Having just participated in my umpteenth Dewey's Readathon, of course I have to sign up for my nearly-umpteenth Bout of Books. Must keep up the reading mojo! Plus, I'm in the middle of 8 (EIGHT!) books. 😁

ETA: Here are the books I'm hoping to finish by the end of May (with the exception of Clarissa, which is a year-long read in a GR group). Let's see how many I can cross off this week!

The Book of Goose by Yiyum Li (in progress)
The Collected Plays Vol 2. by Neil Simon (in progress)
The Lady in the Lake by Raymond Chandler (in progress)
Nature, Love, Medicine by various authors (in progress)
Thank You For Being Late by Thomas L. Friedman (in progress - also on audio)
In Other Rooms, Other Wonders by Daniyal Mueenuddin (in progress - also on audio)
The Green Mile by Stephen King (in progress)
Whereabouts by Jhumpa Lahiri

Summary

The Easy Life in Kamusari - 189 pages, finished. I really enjoyed this, plus I learned a lot about forestry.
The Book of Goose - 81 pages. Won the Tournmant of Books this year, but I'm not enamored so far.
The Last Cuentista - 132 pages. This Dystopian thriller won the 2022 Newbery, and I can't wait to get back to the audiobook!
The Green Mile - 47 pages. Stephen King - 'nuff said. Another I can't wait to get back to.

Total, pages: 449
Total, hours: 9 hr 14 min (6 hr 30 min reading, 2 hr 44 min audio)

I'm pleased with my results, given I took the evening "off".

Hours 13 - 18

 Since last update:

The Green Mile - 47 pgs

I ended up hanging out with family most of the evening. I'll likely turn in soon, but am hoping to be back for the last hour. Final update tomorrow.

Hours 7 - 12

 Since last update:

The Easy Life in Kamusari - Last 131 pgs. I really enjoyed this one.
The Last Cuentista - 56 pgs (audio). This is a a Newbery winner and very good. I took a nice walk while listening and just wanted to keep going!

My daughter will be arriving soon, so I'll be taking an hour or two off then getting back to it!
