1. What are you reading right now? In the Bedroom (short stories) by Andre Dubus (great writer) and listening to The Woman Who Died a Lot by Jasper Fforde (great and wacky writer)

3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon? Good Talk and Quiet Girl in a Noisy World (both graphic nonfictions)
4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? Just my husband (who normally is away for the October Readathon) asking "How's it going"? It's actually sweet.
5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far? I'm surprised I haven't been sleepier (just one brief sleepy episode this morning)

Ugh, I'm sleepy as I didn't get much sleep last night. Hoping to get a 2nd (then a 3rd and 4th) wind!

Opening Survey

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today? Utah
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? The Haunting of Hill House. I'm just in that mood!
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to? Hmm. I'm trying not to eat sugar (it makes me sleepy) so popcorn, I guess.
4) Tell us a little something about yourself! I do a lot of non-partisan political and community volunteer work. Remember to vote!
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today?  I hope to break my record for actual reading hours.

RAT Snacks

Here are a few of my snacks - ha ha. On the meal menu is a reheated omelette for breakfast, a salad with chicken for lunch, and veggie pizza for dinner. A Cherry Coke Zero at midnight, lots of tea, and sparkling water should take care of the beverages. All ready to go at 6:00 a.m. (only 6 hours from now - yikes, must get to bed).

Dewey's Readathon is Coming Up!

I'm so happy I can participate in this again. Every once in awhile I can't do it because of travel, but this will be my 17th (counting the Reverse Readathon in August)! It's honestly like a really fun holiday and I look forward to it, as I know many others do. I'm still refining my stack, so will be back with that soon.

ETA: 10/17/19 - Ok, here is my traditional stack of 10!
Dumb Witness (Kindle) - Agatha Christie
The Little Book of Sloth Philosophy - Jennifer McCartney
Quiet Girl in a Noisy World (graphic) - Debbie Tung
Good Talk (graphic) - Mira Jacob
The Haunting of Hill House - Shirley Jackson
The Message in the Hollow Oak (always need a Nancy Drew for RAT) - Carolyn Keene
City of Glass (first in The New York Trilogy) - Paul Auster
The Vegan Starter Kit - Neal D. Barnard
In the Bedroom (short stories) - Andre Dubus
The Woman Who Died a Lot (also on audio) - Jasper Fforde

Almost all short books this time. Can't wait to get going! I'm going to try hard to finish all 4 books I'm currently reading before the 26th, so I can "start fresh".
