Bout of Books 38

I'm planning to join Bout of Books once again. I can't believe this is number 38! I'll have to count how many times I've participated. I have an international flight on Day 4, so have high hopes for racking up a lot of pages that day.

The Bout of Books readathon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly Rubidoux Apple. It’s a weeklong readathon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 21st and runs through Sunday, August 27th in YOUR time zone. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are reading sprints, daily Discord questions, and exclusive Instagram challenges, but they’re all completely optional. For all Bout of Books 38 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

TBR:

The Crime at Black Dudley by Margery Allingham (in progress)
Clarissa, or, the History of a Young Lady by Samuel Richardson (in progress - year-long read in a GR group)
LaRose by Louise Erdrich
The Secret Pilgrim by John le CarrΓ©
The Girl in His Shadow by Audrey Blake
The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber
The Diary of a Nobody by George Grossmith

This is just a tentative plan. It will be mostly Kindle reading this time, and I have a LOT of books on there so I may start something else.

Having just participated in my umpteenth Dewey's Readathon, of course I have to sign up for my nearly-umpteenth Bout of Books. Must keep up the reading mojo! Plus, I'm in the middle of 8 (EIGHT!) books. 😁

Summary

The Easy Life in Kamusari - 189 pages, finished. I really enjoyed this, plus I learned a lot about forestry.
The Book of Goose - 81 pages. Won the Tournmant of Books this year, but I'm not enamored so far.
The Last Cuentista - 132 pages. This Dystopian thriller won the 2022 Newbery, and I can't wait to get back to the audiobook!
The Green Mile - 47 pages. Stephen King - 'nuff said. Another I can't wait to get back to.

Total, pages: 449
Total, hours: 9 hr 14 min (6 hr 30 min reading, 2 hr 44 min audio)

I'm pleased with my results, given I took the evening "off".

Hours 13 - 18

 Since last update:

The Green Mile - 47 pgs

I ended up hanging out with family most of the evening. I'll likely turn in soon, but am hoping to be back for the last hour. Final update tomorrow.

Hours 7 - 12

 Since last update:

The Easy Life in Kamusari - Last 131 pgs. I really enjoyed this one.
The Last Cuentista - 56 pgs (audio). This is a a Newbery winner and very good. I took a nice walk while listening and just wanted to keep going!

My daughter will be arriving soon, so I'll be taking an hour or two off then getting back to it!
