Personal Readathon 4/23/22

It turns out I am alone again for a day and a half this weekend, without any important commitments! So...since it's just a week until the official Dewey's Readathon (in which I am not able to participate), I'm going to have another Personal RAT. Yay! My stack includes a few leftovers from the last one a few weeks ago:

State of Terror by Hilary Rodham Clinton and Louise Penny (also on audio)
Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid (also on audio)
Love Literary Style by Karin Gillespie
The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende (also on audio)
On Kindle: The Woodlanders by Thomas Hardy
                   Subdivision by J. Robert Lennon
The Last September by Elizabeth Bowen
With No One As Witness by Elizabeth George
Music in History by Ahmir Questlove Thompson
When a Crocodile Eats the Sun by Peter Godwin

I'm starting fresh with nothing in progress, so let's see how many pages I can tear through! 😊📚📙📘

Hours 25 - 48

 Since last update:

Void Moon - 9 pages (audio), finished
The Echo Wife - 52 pgs (audio), finished
Go to Sleep: I Miss You - 88 pgs, finished (actually 177 pages, but some pages only had a single cartoon panel so I'm only counting half )
In Concrete - 42 pgs
Mystery of the Moss-covered Mansion - 54 pgs
Me by Elton John - 22 pgs  (audio - I hadn't planned on starting this one during the RAT, but I needed a new audiobook and this was available)

Final total, hours: 10 hr 48 min (3 hr 20 min reading, 7 hr 28 min audio)
Final total, pages: 658

Not stellar totals for 48 hours, but it was fun anyway. I guess I answered my question about whether I would get more done without the social media. The answer is no! It's too easy to give in to distractions when I'm not participating as part of the 'official' event.

Hours 18 - 24

Since last update:

The Sentence - 2 pgs
The Echo Wife - 60 pgs (audio)

Running total, hours: 1 hr 50 min reading, 6 hr 48 min audio
Running total, pages: 400

Since I was gone for almost 3 hours last night, I decided to make this a 48-hour readathon and keep reading today. Why not?! I'm behind on my reading goals for the year, so this will help me catch up. 😀

Hours 10 - 17

 Since last update:

Void Moon - 76 pgs (audio), finished
The Sentence - 54 pgs

Running total, hours: 1 hr 50 min reading, 5 hr 10 min audio
Running total, pages: 338

Hours 1 - 9

Void Moon - 169 pgs (audio)
The Echo Wife - 2 pgs (audio)
In Concrete - 37 pgs

Running total, hours: approx. 45 min reading, 3 hr 34 min audio
Running total, pages: 208

I got invited to dinner tonight, so that will be a 2-hour-ish break. I didn't get much sleep last night, so I can't read for very long at a time anyway. Hoping I can still stay up pretty late!

Personal Readathon April 9,2022

I am sad about missing the next Dewey's Readathon on April 30th (I will be traveling), so I decided to have a personal RAT this Saturday! It won't be the same without the 'community', but I need a day for nothing but me and my books. The hubs is out of town, and I've worked extra hard this week prepping for carpet cleaning - so I deserve it!

Here's my traditional stack of ten. I'm a mood reader, but also these are just next on my TBR. Who knows if it will strike my fancy to stick to a couple or jump around? TBD!

Void Moon by Michael Connelly (in progress - also on audio)
The Echo Wife by Sarah Gailey (in progress, also on audio - Tournament of Books)
Mystery of the Moss-covered Mansion by Carolyn Keene (got to have my traditional Nancy Drew for when I can't concentrate too hard 😉)
Go to Sleep (I Miss You) by Lucy Knisley (graphic)
The Sentence by Louise Erdrich (IRL book group)
State of Terror by Hillary Rodham Clinton and Louise Penny
On Kindle:  In Concrete by Anna Garreta (Tournament of Books)
Subdivision by J. Robert Lennon (Tournament of Books)
The Woodlanders by Thomas Hardy (1001 books)
The Last September by Elizabeth Bowen (1001 books)

ETA 4/8/22 - Photo of the stack:

I'm going to stick with the normal Dewey's schedule and start at 6:00 a.m! With no social media, I'm curious if I'll get more pages read. I suspect it will be about the same as normal, because I get sleepy and have to take plenty of breaks. 😩 Off to try and get a good night's sleep!
